This was one of my first purchases when I began my obsessive journey into hardware synthesis a few years ago. I still use it just about every time I record something.
No doubt a DAW like Ableton has much greater sequencing capabilities. Oddly enough for an IT professional, I much prefer hands on hardware to programming a computer and mousing little virtual knobs, etc. Hardware is so much more instrument-like, more fun to play…
That said, I have and do use the Arturia Beatstep Pro to sequence hardware, but mostly I use it as a midi controller for Ableton, and especially for the drum rack.
The first thing you will notice, that you cannot tell from pictures is, the Beatstep Pro is a solid device with metal casing. This is not a lightweight plastic controller, I was happy to discover.
As you can see in the image below, it is quite versatile in the connections department. In my opinion, there is little if anything, anywhere near its price range, that competes with it.
Product support, downloads
Strongly recommended that you download the newest OS, unless you hate bug fixes, stability and new features.
