Korg Minilogue XD

Now a 3 oscillator digital/analog hybrid

The new Minilogue XD has some of the most popular distinct features of the Monologue – polyphonic sequencer and microtunings, and the Prologue – MULTIdigital Oscillator, new effects and stereo, interesting upgrades for about $100 more than a standard Minilogue. The XD also has 2 CV inputs and 500 preset locations. The filter also has been updated to compensate for the low end roll-off of the original Minilogue filter, a common complaint.

The XD still has the slim mini-keys, which I hate as mentioned in my post Size Matters, but in fairness many like, even prefer them over a standard keybed. The joystick is a definite improvement over the Minilogue slider in my opinion.

In previous edits of this page, I have pitched for a slightly larger format with 37 standard sized keys or a supply your own keyboard MIDI controller desktop model. Now, Korg has responded to market demand with a Minilogue XD Module version. It would be my recommendation, that of the 3 flavors of Minilogues available today, that you buy the XD Module version and add the MIDI controller of your own choice. You even connect two modules for 8-voice polyphony.

Make no mistake though, whichever flavor you get, the Minilogues are top sellers and significant to the market.
