Now there are 3 form factors with the same identical sound engine. The original Argon8 with 37 keys, the Argon8X with 61 keys, and a module/rack mount version, the Argon8M.
The Argon8 is digital and a true wavetable synth, but like most at these price points, it does not load user supplied wavetables. Modal feels the wavetables are carefully curated, which is likely best for the average user, and fitting for the price point.
A little more detail I’ve been able to extract from Modal information and by contacting their support: There are 120 wavetables, split into 24 banks of 5 morphable wavetables. The wavetables are comprised of 5 single waveforms with 32 steps for each waveform for a total of 128 steps. The pure original waveforms that make up each wavetable can be found at 0, 31, 63, 95, and 127. Additionally, there are 32 static wavetable processors that can be applied to the 120 wavetables to give an array of permutations and new waveshapes.
