Zeppelin Design Labs Macchiato Mini Synth

Easy-to-use digital synthesizer that fits in the palm of your hand

Disclaimer: I’m part of an organization related to Zeppelin Design Labs.

Macchiato’s are great learning tools fully assembled or in kit form. The possibilities for these go far beyond Korg Monotrons, especially if you delve into programming.

The Macchiato Mini Synth features a built-in 13-note capacitive-touch keyboard with 2-note polyphony, MIDI IN, and eight control knobs for shaping your sound.

If you have external midi controllers and/or effects, you might be surprised what can be done with this deceptively simple appearing synth.

Like most of Zeppelin Design Labs products, these are available in kit or fully assembled versions. If you enjoy tinkering with code, the Altura code was written in the Arduino environment and is available open-source on their GitHub page, link is further down this page.

Whether you buy the synth as a kit or ready-to-play, it comes with a template you can use to make your own cabinet from card stock (available separately) or a cereal box. Optionally, you can order a New-and-Improved shiny black acrylic cabinet, either as a simple kit or ready-to-use.  Finally, with some ingenuity, you could make your own cabinet or chassis, install the synth and apply the groovy Macchiato labels.
